NZ History
I’m no historian so, a lt of research is going to get me through this topic of NZ history. NZ history, started way back with the first Maoris landing somewhere near the Hokianga Harbour. The first white man to find NZ was a dutchman by the name of Abel Tasman. Abel played his part in NZ history in the year 1642. He didn’t hang around for too long, as his first encounter with the Maoris wasn’t a friendly one.
Captain James Cook was the first man to land in New Zealand. This historic moment took place in Gisborne in 1769 when he landed at Young Nicks Head, (which James named) near Poverty Bay.
Over the next few weeks I’ll go over these topics in more detail, and many more events in NZ history.
