Outdoor Adventure Activity In New Zealand

You may have read in my last post that New Zealand is the adrenaline junkie capital of the world. Outdoor adventure activity in New Zealand is always pretty much on your back door step wherever you go. The coast is never more than 45 minutes away, if you’re into deep sea fishing, scuba diving, surfing, or just digging for pipis (shellfish). You’re never far from hiking trails, or camping areas. You don’t have to take your shot gun with you, because nothing is going to eat you. You may want to pick up a big stick, just in case a possum wants to share your sleeping bag with you. Speaking of guns. If you like shooting stuff, you can do that almost anywhere as well. Some of the best deer hunting in the world I’ve been told. Only in New Zealand, you don’t sit in a deer stand and wait for the deer to come and feed out of your deer feeder. You, have to find the deer. When I thought of this topic, outdoor adventure activity in New Zealand, I immediately thought of our trip to Queenstown. If you like seeing your life flash in front of you this is the place to go. My wife and I decided to go bungee jumping. But decided if we were to do one, we’re going to do the biggest. A J Hacketts Nevis bungee jump is the highest in New Zealand. The ultimate rush. You’re about 400ft above a rocky canyon, suspended on a couple of cables. The instructors tell you to use the toilet even if you don’t need to, good advice. You’re standing on a platform no more than 1ft by 1ft, total strangers count backwards from 3 then yell out bunngeeeee. So you jump. With the air coming at your face at 1000mph you cant even scream. Free-falling for 8.5 seconds is enough time for your life to flash in front of you. You’ve got to do it.Outdoor adventure activity in New Zealand is endless, get down there and try some of it out.canoenz.jpg
